Greg - Thanks for taking the time to put together such a well written and technically correct article. I played for a couple of years using long pimples and had a fair idea of their effect on the ball and the affect on opponents!

Eventually I moved back to grippy rubber for my own enjoyment of the game however I really love to play opponents with anti or pimpled rubber now. My MO today is to simply backspin hard into their anti and crack their return which usually has a light topspin on it. It does not work all the time (due to my poor execution!) but often enough.

I try to explain my simple theory to many players who ask me how to play against anti or pimples but most still try to loop the return rather than drive it and consequently miss the end of the table by a fair degree.

Keep up the good work. I found your site by surfing the net.
