I have put my coaching on hold indefinitely, due to work
and playing commitments. If you are looking for a quality
coach I would recommend my training partner Frank Kenny, who
is a Level 2 coach and been coaching for over 40 years. If
you would like Frank's contact details, email
me and I'll pass them on to you.
I am available for individual or group coaching. I normally use
the WATTA centre as the location due to its good facilities and
central location, but I am happy to coach at clubs or homes provided
they are reasonably close to where I live in Inglewood, otherwise
I may need to charge transport costs. I also have a table set up
at my house with a Stiga Elite Roller table and plenty of space.
What Qualifications do I have?
What can I bring to the table to help you? At present, I am a
Qualified Level 1 Coach. I have also been assisting with coaching
the State Junior squad for the last 3 years.
Top level player - competing since 1986. Recently ranked #916
in World Rankings, #20 in Australia on ITTF website in September
2005. Check my table tennis
resume here. I have playing experience with both attack and
defence - I have been ranked in WA as both a combination bat defender
and a speed glueing attacker, and can advise from both perspectives.
I played a mix of both styles in 2004 and was ranked as #2 in
WA. At the 2005 Australian Open I also had 3 wins over players
ranked in the 2004 Australian Top 10.
State Open Mens Singles, Mens Doubles, and Mixed Doubles winner
in 2006.
Coach of 2 times State Open Womens Singles Champion - my partner
Nita Teoh!
What do you get for your money?
That's the big question, isn't it? Firstly, you get what you want,
where humanly possible. We would need to sit down in person or via
email and talk about what your goals are, and whether they are realistic
given your situation. Not everybody can be Australian Champion,
but almost everybody can improve their table tennis! Basically,
you can do what you want to do - I'll give you advice and suggestions
on how I believe you can best achieve your goals, but you can feel
free to make own decisions on what you want to practice.
Once we agree on some realistic goals, we would then go on to arrange
a coaching schedule.
Anything else?
As well as my table tennis experience, here as some other benefits
I have to offer:
I use video analysis during coaching sessions to allow you to
see straight away what you are doing correctly and incorrectly.
I keep up to date with modern techniques via footage of major
events and by participating in online forums.
I can make a DVD/VHS tape of your session available for a small
extra fee, allowing you to review your training and advice whenever
you like.
You can make use of my own Butterfly Amicus 3000 Robot for a
small extra fee.
You can email me for advice at any time for no charge - no need
to wait until the next session if there's something you need to
know now!
If I'm coaching you, I want to see how you play in actual matches
- so wherever possible I'll make the effort to watch you compete
in tournaments and pennants, as well as offering advice during
your matches, when you need it the most!
