Perhaps this'll be addressed in the LP hitting video when it's posted, but I'm having some trouble getting as much consistency as I'd want in hitting with my pips, and this is likely because I'm fiddling with my technique too much.
My coach tells me that, when hitting against underspin, I need to start with a slightly open blade, take the ball toward the bottom of the blade, then, using forearm and wrist, flick the blade forward and a bit to the right, rotating the head of the blade so that, at the end of the shot, the tip of the blade is almost facing toward the ceiling. But I've seen other pips players who don't seem to use their wrist in hitting. For instance, Guido Schnabel doesn't seem to use much wrist in this lifting shot, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUygZxaK … nnel_page, and Tat, a member of your coaching program (whose video you'd discussed) who happens to use the same blade I do, hardly uses any wrist either (you can see his stroke very precisely in the slow motion toward the end of this video -- http://www.veoh.com/search/videos/q/pub … 33Bzdw45gr). Plus, both of them seem to be going more UP and to the right rather than FORWARD and a bit right.
So which is it? Wrist or no wrist? Up or forward?
