Table Tennis Articles
Firstly, you'll find the articles
relating to Table Tennis that I have written. There are, of course,
articles about tactics, tips, equipment, training, match play and
coaching, but I am also hoping to write about some of the less talked
about aspects of Table Tennis - instead of just the usual offerings
on how to speed glue, which blade is fastest, and why the 3rd best
player in the world has a terrible flaw in his game. Maybe I'll
write about that in the future (OK - sure I will!), but I'd like
my site to be somewhere where the Table Tennis aficionado can come
to spend some time in a quiet, entertaining and enlightening manner,
rather than just reading the same discussion about equipment over
and over again.
Table Tennis Videos - For Free and To Buy
Secondly, you'll also find some table
tennis videos to look at. I have a number of free table tennis
videos to enjoy, as well as some that I offer for sale. I've put
up a few sample clips so that you can see the quality of the video
and the quality of the players on offer. Don't feel that you have
to purchase them to make me happy (although it would!). I bought
a video camera to improve the Table Tennis standard of myself and
my girlfriend (I know, a girlfriend who plays Table Tennis seriously
- am I a lucky guy or what!!), and kept getting asked by people
if they could get a copy of the matches I was taping. So I decided
to offer what I had taped to the rest of Australia's Table Tennis
players (and now overseas as well), if they wanted them.
Table Tennis Blog
I have also included a personal Table
Tennis blog detailing my journey towards the 2006 Australian
Open tournament. I'll be adding to it every few days as I prepare
for another go against the top players in Australia - I hope that
you will come along for the journey with me.
Table Tennis Forum
Yes, notwithstanding what I wrote about Table Tennis forums below,
I have put one up on my site. I'm hoping to encourage some intelligent
conversation about table tennis, with a lot less of the rubbish
that you have to sift through on some other forums. Please feel
free to join up and add your words of wisdom to Greg's
Table Tennis Forum.
Table Tennis Links
As of the 15th March 2005, I am now including links
to some of my favourite Table Tennis websites, as well as some of
the other sites that I have browsed from time to time. I'll also
be giving my own review and ranking of the sites to help increase
your websurfing pleasure.
Table Tennis Ads
I've got a problem - my partner sees me spending A LOT of time
on this website that I could be spending with her. (Sound familiar,
table tennis addicts?) While I am having heaps of fun doing this
website, I need to show her that my time is well spent - hence the
ads.
You'll notice on this site a number of ads linking to the shop
at megaspin.net.
I'll make sure that the ads I put up are relevant to the articles
you are reading, as well as throwing in a bit of the usual Greg
humour! (Note: long-time readers may notice the change in my
ads from my previous affiliate - this is purely a private business
decision and no reflection on them.)
So if you enjoy the articles and want to buy some table tennis
equipment and are kind enough to go through my ads here, I get a
(small!) commission. You get good value for money, I get a cut,
megaspin gets a sale, and my partner stays off my back and allows
me to keep playing with this website and writing more stuff for
you to read and enjoy! Yay for everyone!
Comments
Finally, you will find comments on the articles that I have written,
and hopefully in the future, comments about other people's comments.
I love the idea of a site with a vigorous, healthy , intelligent
debate and exchange of ideas. Someplace where all the comments add
something useful to the topic. Aren't those the best threads on
the forums? I welcome anybody to send
me the comments they want to make, and I promise not to edit
them other to remove unnecessary personal attacks and bad language
etc. But it's my call whether the post contributes enough to the
topic to make it to the Comments section. In time, I hope that the
comments will be like a small 'best of the web" for each article
topic. High hopes I know, but don't we all have to start somewhere?
So that's what's in store - but what won't you find here?
A forum with endless posts about which rubber is better, or why
long pimples/ speed glue/ penholders/ Martians should be banned
from the sport. There are plenty of other sites out there that do
that much better than I ever could. But I would like my forum to
have a bit more meat to it than just that.
Don't get me wrong, I still read and post on other forums too
- they are great for meeting and talking with fellow Table Tennis
enthusiasts around the world, about any Table Tennis subject imaginable.
Some of my favourites are Sean O'Neills aboutTableTennis
forum and Denis'
Table Tennis forum. Lookout for posts by DTopSpirit or DTop
- that would be me!
Given that forums are great, it's funny why 90% of the posts still
seem to be the Table Tennis equivalent of "Take a look at the
stuff I use! My stuff is way better than your stuff - why are you
using such rubbish?.Anyway, you shouldn't be allowed to use anything
I don't like. And if you don't agree with me, I'll call you names
over and over again whilst putting my hands over my ears so I can't
hear you! Nyah Nyah Nyah!" I promise to do my very best to
avoid having that happen on my forum.
You also won't find:
The Gospel of Table Tennis according to St.Gregory (although I
do like the sound of that!). Unlike certain other people on the
Internet who shall remain nameless, I don't claim that my point
of view or the articles that I have written are the final word on
any subject. I am hoping to entertain you, make you think, and maybe
make you laugh here and there. I'm open to differing points of view
and more than willing to be convinced otherwise by a rational argument.
So whether you agree or disagree, please feel free to hit that Send
button and put your point of view across. I'll make sure that
your opinion gets a fair hearing and a possibly a place in the Comments
section of each article.
Welcome aboard!
